For My Best Friend

2 years ago today, you became my friend.
Now I think my life will never be the same again.

You make me happier than I've ever been.
I believe we can make it, through thick and through thin.

I don't believe I've ever had a friend like you before.
With each passing month I feel I know you more and more.

You're 11 on a scale of 1 to 10.
I never want this friendship of ours to end.

We have so much in common, such similar taste.
A person like you can never be replaced.

Remember that any time you feel you need a hand,
I'll be there to help you. By your side I'll always stand.

I'm glad that I decided to click that button SEND,
Otherwise we'd have never come to be such awesome friends.

Ode to Fuzzy Pink Socks

Shake and shiver, tremble, huddle
the change in weather does befuddle

I'm not used to all this cold
52 degrees, I've been told

My fingertips, my cheeks, my nose
all feel numb from being froze

And yet, I'm happy, for my feet
at least have found a source of heat

My toes are safe and warm because
they're toasty in my pink socks of fuzz

My Halloween Costume

Hello, I'm Mad Maggie, the crazy evil nurse.
I'm sure of all your nightmares, you'd vote me the worst.

I never finished Med school, my diploma's honorary.
Not for my lack of genius; they simply found me scary.

Perhaps it is my witchy hair, or my special Hypno-Glasses.
Maybe they don't like my pet, a spider named Arachnyss.

Arachnyss sits atop my shoulder, whispering jokes in my ear.
So if I throw my head back with mirth...
Mwah-ha-ha-hah! Mwah-haha-ha-ha-haaaah!!!
... you have nothing to fear. ^_~

I take my science equipment everwhere I go.
Vials of colorful liquids cast a spooky glow.

"But what are the mysterious stains on your coat?" you ask.
I smile, pulling from my pocket a green and slimy flask.

"It's the blood of my unfortunate lab assistant, Cody.
My concoction wasn't ready, so he got a bit explodey.

But now my potion's safe to drink. Would you like a taste?"
Your eyes go wide, you turn your heel and run with lots of haste.

My shoulders droop a little bit. I didn't mean to frighten.
Luckily Arachnyss has some words to make me brighten.

"Don't you worry, Maggie. I don't think you're mad.
When people get to know you, they'll see you're not that bad."

"You're right, Arachnyss," I reply, drinking my potion green.
"I'm sure we'll still get to have a Happy Halloween." ^_^

Perfect Candle Flame

We have known each other for such a long time.
How can I express it in a few simple rhymes?

Though we're torn apart by distance and circumstance,
We are close as can be, and that gives us a chance.

You tell me your secrets, and I tell you mine.
Talking to you... why, it's just like sunshine.

You're the person I count on. You make me feel complete.
Oh, how I wish that our worlds will someday meet.

Yes, we are friends, and we always will be.
But I wish we were more... Sometimes I can see

Us holding hands on a dock at sunset.
We're counting the stars, even ones not there yet.

We laugh together and the feeling's so right.
Just us sharing the moment on a dark, moonlit night.

Nothing else can compare. It's a feeling I can't name.
It's like warmth from the glow of a perfect candle flame.

We don't hang by a thread, we've got the strongest rope.
It's made of love and friendship, and most of all hope.

We've never clapped eyes on each other, but still,
I know that I love you, and I'm sure I always will.

♥Birthday Poem for Mom♥

For my wonderful mother,
who's unlike any other,
on the day you came to be.
I give you 3 cheers
for all of the years
that you have lived to see.

Bring on the presents and the fun,
because today, you're number one!
"Happy birthday!" we all chant.
Anything you wish, we'll grant.

Thank you, mom, for all that you do.
From your daughter (who really loves you. ^_~)

Happy 19th Birthday, Annette!

I have a sister named Annette
She's skinny and tall, a natural brunette,
And the coolest girl I've ever met, I bet
(Well, don't forget,
I'm biased. She's my twin after all.)
Get set, Annette,
We're about to have a ball.
You know why, of course. It's our birthday, y'all!
With our 19th year all over and done,
I wonder, "What will we do in the next one?"
Well, no matter what happens, let's be sure to have fun.
^_~
Together forever,
Our friendship I'll treasure.
Know that I'll never, ever

Forget or regret
The times we have shared
We're the perfect duet
You've always been there.
Thank you, Annette.
You know how much I care.
Love, your sister,
Bettina

BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS ~ An Acrostic

Best ever place
On earth to be.
So much fun
To walk all
Over the city.
Nearly everything is

Made for walking distance.
A wonderful amount of
Special places to go,
Sights to see,
And people to meet.
Close ties I
Have with this place.
Understand, it is where I was born.
So much history
Etched into every brick of
The roads and buildings.
Take a walk around. You'll
See what I mean.

We've Arrived!

We've Arrived!
We've Arrived!
At last we have arrived!
Pats on the back
And happy high-fives!
^_^

We sure
Endured
A lot in our little car,
Driving all day
And way
Into the dark.
O,0

But cheer!
We're here!
Now at last,
First we'll unpack,
then maybe...
Crash.

On a Road-trip

I'm in a car, going fast!
Outside the scenery rushes past.
On a road-trip, going far.
Highway signs and other cars.

With windows down, the breeze is strong.
The stereo plays a funky song.
Bopping my head to the beat,
I wonder when we'll stop to eat.

I'd like to take a break and stretch,
But I won't complain, and I won't *kvetch.
I love road-trips, in fact I'll bet
You won't hear me say "Are we there yet?"

So sitting in the backseat, notebook in lap
I'll close my eyes and take a nap.
-_-

*Kvetch is a Yiddish word that means complain or make a fuss.
Also, the picture is almost exactly what our car actually looks like. ^_^

Knowing you

Knowing you has been a pleasure
Your friendship I will always treasure
Knowing you has given me lots
of cool ideas and great new thoughts
Knowing you has been a ride
I'm glad to have you by my side
Knowing you, I've changed so much
The sky feels close enough to touch
Knowing you has turned my world
Upside-down and flipped and twirled
Knowing you, I've read many a book
I probably wouldn't have given a look
Knowing you, my days are brighter
And I've become a better writer (I hope!)
Knowing you, I feel so free
My words come out like poetry
Knowing you are my best friend
Is something I hope never ends
Knowing you is like sunshine
You're unique, silly, one-of-a-kind
Knowing you, I'd like to say,
"I wouldn't have it any other way"

(I don't need to say it, but even so
Some things are simply good to know. ^_~)

Knowing you, you're smiling now
And so for you, I'll take a bow
^_^

In & Out

Sometimes I wish I could be very small.
A fly on the wall,
Not seen at all.
Invisible, I'd watch time go by.
Peaceful nothings, dreams and sighs.
Sometimes I wish I were big as can be!
For everyone to see
The spotlight on me!
I'd rule the world, have tons of friends!
Adventure, excitement, the fun never ends!
These 2 opposite parts of me
Make up my personality.
Sometimes I look in,
Sometimes I look out...

Maybe that's what life is all about
???

A Dreamer Dreaming Dreams.

Sleeping,
Always keeping
My mind teeming,
With dreaming,
Feeling
The world is reeling
I'm seeing
A different way of being.

I cry
I know how high
I can fly.
So then why
Not when I'm wide
Awake?
~,~

Dreams, it seems, are beams
Of light
Made for spite
But feel so right!
But if you share, with a friend who cares, someone out there
Who you can trust
And who must
Be true and just,
As well as kind, then speak your mind, and you may find
A fellow dreamer.

Love

It makes you dance, it makes you groan,
Whether in a crowd or on your own.

It makes you giggle, it makes you cry,
'til all that you can do is sigh.

It makes you feel on top of the world.
It makes you sing and dance and twirl.

It makes you gaze up at the sky.
It makes you think and wonder "Why?

Why you and me, why here and now?"
And then you find you don't care how

It came to be, because you see,
I love you, and you love me.
That's all that matters, don't you agree?

The Story of the Man who Never Finished Anything.

There once was a man by the name of Paul,
who was wiry, skinny, and not that tall
(he'd never quite finished growing up, after all.)

As a kid he had habits that were not very good.
He never finished his veggies, like a good boy should.

No one understood him, not even his folks,
He never finished a sentence whenever he spoke
(which was a problem when he tried to tell jokes.)

He never finished school, because of his quirk.
He never finished classes, or his homework.

Paul never finished movies, or even one book.
He'd start, but then never give another look.
Maybe they weren't worth the effort it took?

Never once did he finish his chores.
His parents worried more and more...

As an adult, Paul never finished one job
(which was to manufacture thingamabobs).
He was sadly replaced by a guy named Rob.

"You never finish anything!"
Said his girlfriend, Sarah King.

Little did she know, before too long,
Paul would go and prove her wrong.
(Who knew his feelings were even that strong?)

One night he didn't finish sharpening a knife,
But he did finish something: His life.

So let this be a lesson to everyone:
Finish what you start.....

Thanks, Dad!

You're a good Dad, a cool Dad,
You're nobodies' fool, Dad.
You know about music, computers and money,
You know when to be serious and when to be funny.

You're a fun Dad, a great Dad,
A give it to me straight Dad.
You teach me oh so many things,
You give me roots, you give me wings.

You're a clever Dad, a smart Dad,
Love you with all my heart, Dad.
On this beautiful Father's Day,
Here's a few things I'd like to say:
-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~
Thanks for all the pizza, Thanks for all the sweets,
Thanks for all the restaurants and all your other treats.

Thanks for all your patience, Thanks for all your time,
Thanks for always teaching me that mistakes aren't a crime.

Thanks for all the loving, Thanks for all the care,
Thanks for being the kind of Dad I know will always be there.

Thanks for all the laughter, Thanks for all the fun,
Of all the Dads there's ever been, I say you're #1! ^_^
Happy Father's Day!

Happy Mother's Day

How on earth do you manage to
Accomplish what you do every day?
Please, what is our secret?
Preparing tasty, healthy snacks and
Yummy meals for all of us,

Mending and patching clothes, keeping
Order and neatness where we live,
Teaching us valuable life lessons,
House-cleaning and so much more.
Everything you do around here is honestly,
Really appreciated a lot. You are a
Special person. Very special. You

Deserve all the happiness
A person can possibly get. Oh,
Yes, you most certainly do.

In honor of this wonderful holiday,

Let us shower you with praise
Over and over and over again. You are
Valuable beyond reasonable description,
Even for a writer such as myself.

Yesterday you were loved, but
Only half as much as today. Wait
Until tomorrow comes along, though!

Pitter-Pat

As I took a walk in the warm, bright sun,
I smiled as I waved hi to everyone.
I noticed some dark clouds floating in the sky.
They covered up the sun. I wondered why.
Just then I felt a drop fall on top of my head.
More drops fell around me, I sang as I tread:

"Pitter-pat, pitter-pat, what a lovely sound,
The noise that rain makes when it falls to the ground."
The rain fell gently on my face like mist.
The wind whispered in my ear with a little "Psst."
I looked up at the sky and saw the clouds were growing vast.
The drops were getting harder now, the rain was falling fast.
Mother took an umbrella out of her big bag.
She held my hand, said "Hurry up! There is no time to lag."

Pitter-pat, pitter-pat, the noise is getting loud!
The wind is fiercer, stronger and the trees are bent and bowed.
We rushed back to the house where it was dry and warm.
I looked out and saw the rain had turned into a storm!
Lightning flashed across the sky, I heard a thunder-clap.
I jumped, shrieked and ran into my mother's waiting lap.
She smiled and said "It's alright, there's nothing to fear.
While we wait for it to stop, why don't you draw something, dear?"

Pitter-pat, pitter-pat, I'll ignore the sound and do
some drawing with my paintbox and my crayons all day through.
Eventually the sound grew faint. I paused to listen more.
I stood up, walked down the hall and opened the front door.
The drops were falling softer as the storm began to cease.
I took a breath of clean fresh air and felt a sense of peace.
The sun was shining out again, the grass was green and wet.
I smiled, thinking "That was a storm I'm sure I won't forget!"

Pitter-pat, pitter-pat, the rain has gone away.
Now I'll put galoshes on and go outside to play!

ABC

Appropriate As
Alex answers Andrew's argument about appropriate animals almost angrily. "Aren't alligators approachable already?" Andrew attempts an airy attitude, although aloofness aptly arouses Alex's anger. "Actually, Aaron appointed alligators as anti-appropriate. Accept all, Alex. Albatrosses, aardvarks and antelope are allowed. Aliens and alligators aren't, alright?" asked Andrew. Alex apparently accepted, although angry anyway, and ambled away.
Better Bs
"Buy Big Barry's buttery banana-blueberry bagel buns!" bellows Barry boisterously. "Believe Betsy's baguettes are beloved? Behind Baker's Bend, Big Barry brings back brilliance by baking beautiful bread! Boasting best bargains, below Betsy's!" "But beware," Betsy begs buyers, "because Big Barry's beastly belly bulges badly."
Careless Cs
Carlos chipped, cracked Cameron's cute china cups completely. "Clumsy clueless caveman!" cried Cameron, clearly crazy. "Can't creep carefully, cool class cat?" "Come, come," calmed Carlos, cheerfully chipper. "Carpet's clear. Choose carved clay charms. Conveys clear craftsmanship, clears chakras." "Create cautiousness," commanded Cameron crossly.

Neverending Pink

I love pink on flowers,
Like tulips and roses.
Lovely apple blossoms
And other things that grows-es.
I love pink on colored hearts
On St. Valentine's.
Crayons, glitter, paper and glue
Crafts of every kind.
I love pink on ribbons,
Headbands and shoes.
On sweaters, shirts and handbags
And pretty dresses too.
I love pink on blushes
And slender fingernails.
On makeup covered lips
That might leave loving trails.
I love pink on ice-cream
And minty bubblegum.
The inside of a grapefruit
Or a tender purple plum.
I love pink so very much,
In case you didn't know.
I wrote a poem about it
And this is how it goes:

I love pink on flowers...

Black Ladybug

Have you ever seen a ladybug
Flying through the air?
It's kinda cute as it shoots
From here to over there.

I bet you know the common bug
All red with 2 black spots.
But here's something new that happens to
Be black with 2 red dots.
This new insect is quite rare
It isn't often found.
If you're a lucky little ducky
And see it on the ground,

Then pick it up real carefully
And hold it in your hand.
Squint your eyes and whisper "Hi!
Isn't life just grand?"

See as it parts it's tiny wings
And watch it fly away.
It would seem as if you've seen
A black ladybug today.
